Rare Reptile Ramble Report 2021
Paul Stevens event went really well thanks to the sharp eye of a group member who, almost miraculously, spotted a smooth snake entwined in heather. It was a warm day and the refuges proved unproductive . No sand lizards were found, but a tiny common lizard was enjoying the sun (see photo). Paul gave a delightful talk on smoothies some of which was recorded on Fiona McKinnon's phone. Photographs are courtesy of our leader, Louise Smith. Thank you Paul for a great morning. Click here for the short video that will give you a flavour of the event. The sound is quite faint in parts so maximise the volume.

Postponed Pulborough Brooks Reptile Walk. We are awaiting a date from the RSPB.

PictureMarsh Frogs are an alien species which have colonised several areas in Sussex. There is a large colony around Lewes along the Ouse valley. They spend much more time in water than our smaller, native frog and consequently are thought not to be damaging the native population. Photo, Aidan Mackay
