We are now in hibernation until the weather warms and hopefully Covid-19 recedes

Report on Weir Wood Reptile Survey at Weir Wood Reservoir

T
he Reptile walk at Weir Wood reservoir was attended by 15.  Numbers of grass snakes at Weir Wood have been relatively low this year and July tends to be a more difficult month to find reptiles.  The weather began damp and unpromising but by 11am the tins were warming up. The first six tins hidden in waist high vegetation were unproductive, but the other two meadows produced a reasonable 'crop' of six grass snakes, which were enjoyed by us all.  However the highlight was probably the dozens of toadlets which were found around the reservoir edge. Thank you to Marcus Sanderson for the photos!
